3 Imbibis Craft Distillery

8 Summer Land Camels

10 Queens Park (including the Ipswich Nature Centre)

If you’re looking to relax in a shady spot, Queens Park has a lovely heritage vibe and is one of the oldest parks in Queensland!

17 Ipswich RSL Memorial Hall Museum

The Ipswich Soldiers’ Memorial Hall stands as a poignant tribute to the region’s military history and the sacrifices of its servicemen and women. Erected in 1921, this heritage-listed building was designed by architect George Brockwell Gill and has served as a central hub for commemorative activities and community gatherings.

Within its historic walls resides the Ipswich War Museum, curated by the Ipswich RSL Sub Branch. The museum’s collection, formalized in 2016, features over 1,800 artifacts, including photographs, documents, and memorabilia spanning conflicts from the Boer War to Timor Leste. Approximately 80% of these items originate from Ipswich and its surrounding areas.

Visitors can explore exhibits honouring the service and sacrifice of individuals from the Ipswich region. Highlights include a ‘Dead Man Penny’ collection with corresponding medal sets, an original ‘Light Horse’ sculpture, and a memorial stained glass window designed by artist William Bustard. The Ipswich Children’s Library is Australia’s only public library dedicated to children. The state of the art, contemporary library facilities offer so much more than books to borrow.

24 Naughty Little Kids

25 The Soul Nook

26 Ipswich Show

The Ipswich Show is a cherished annual event that brings together the community to celebrate agriculture, entertainment, and local culture.

Over 3 days, the show features various attractions, including rides, entertainment, animal experiences, and various exhibitions and competitions. The Main Arena is the heart of the show, featuring prestigious equestrian events such as showjumping, dressage, and showing. Other entertainment includes motocross displays and fireworks.

IPSWICH DAY TRIPS

While there is plenty to keep you occupied in Ipswich, if you’re keen, you can do some great day trips from the area. For most of these places, you should stay at least a few days in each, but if you only have a day, then a day trip is possible.

Brisbane

Sunshine Coast

The Sunshine Coast is just north of Brisbane and, in addition to gorgeous sunny beaches, has lots to offer visitors of all tastes. 

Kids will love the Australia Zoo with its world famous wildlife warriors show featuring birds swooping overhead, a crocodile feeding display, and much more. Along with all the incredible animal species to learn about, various play parks are dotted throughout the zoo, including a great water splash park for the kids to cool off while parents rest on the grass nearby. 

If you don’t feel like driving, you could hop on the train into Brisbane and then book return transfers from Brisbane through a tour operator.

For adults, the Sunshine Coast hinterland and Noosa are popular to explore, with a mix of quaint mountain villages, artsy markets and the world’s biggest ginger factory – you can’t say the Sunshine Coast isn’t unique!
