Yesterday, I attended the exciting official launch event hosted at the picturesque Overland Estate 1895 Winery, an idyllic location showcasing the rich history and scenic beauty the area is renowned for.
Scenic Rim Eat Local Month has impressively expanded from a modest 25 event celebration in 2011 to an extraordinary lineup featuring over 120 diverse events held across 45 stunning locations this year. The event, thoughtfully curated by the Scenic Rim Council, continues to captivate food enthusiasts and families alike.
Jo Jordan from the Scenic Rim Council provided further insight into the exciting program scheduled to unfold over five packed weekends. With a blend of gourmet experiences and immersive activities, there’s something delightful for everyone:
- A lavish calendar of 41 sumptuous long lunches and a unique breakfast event designed to highlight local ingredients and culinary innovation.
- 25 engaging workshops providing hands-on learning opportunities such as bee-keeping and gin-making, perfect for those looking to acquire new skills or expand their culinary knowledge.
- An impressive 64 opportunities to experience authentic farm life firsthand, connecting visitors directly to local growers and producers.
- 47 family-friendly events designed especially with young foodies in mind, including fun and educational experiences where kids can discover how carrots and other produce are grown directly on the farm.
- 37 exciting brand-new events designed to provide fresh, innovative ways to experience the Scenic Rim’s vibrant produce.
Among the event highlights is the much-anticipated Winter Harvest Festival at Kalbar, combining farm-fresh produce with luxury accommodations through an exclusive glamping experience.
