Review: The Old Church Maleny

This review provides everything you need to know about a stay at The Old Church Maleny, the perfect spot for your hinterland getaway.

The Queensland Travel Guide acknowledges the Kabi Kabi people and the Jinibara people, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which Maleny is situated. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, and recognise their continued spiritual and cultural connections to Country. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.

Nestled in the scenic hinterland of the Sunshine Coast, the Old Church at Maleny offers a perfect blend of historical charm and natural beauty. Originally built in 1913, this beautifully restored church has retained its rustic allure while being modernised to provide unique and intimate accommodation for a Maleny getaway.

With its picturesque location and charming interiors, the Old Church stands as a testament to Maleny’s heritage and provides a tranquil setting to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Whether you’re drawn to its architectural beauty, historical significance, or idyllic surroundings, the Old Church at Maleny is sure to leave a lasting impression.

In this review, we share our thoughts about our recent stay at The Old Church Maleny so you can decide if it’s the right hotel for your trip to Redcliffe.

Accommodation Options

The Old Church has five rooms to choose from. You can stay in the historic Old Church, with its 5-metre-high ceilings and stained glass windows, or in the modern new extension.

All rooms feature smart TVs, Foxtel, Netflix, free Wifi, ceiling fans and air conditioning.

Room One

The Old Church offers a self-contained studio apartment that, while perfect for couples, can actually sleep up to 4 people thanks to a double pull-out sofa bed.

We stayed in this room during our stay and found the room super spacious – its far bigger then it looks in the photos and would be plenty of room for a family or group of four people.

This self contained studio comes with a huge kitchen too with everything you need to prepare your own meals.

It also features a spacious bathroom.

Room Two

Room 2 is a ground-floor queen room suitable for two. It features a bar fridge, microwave, tea and coffee-making facilities, and a dining area. It also has a balcony overlooking the front garden and street.

Room Three

Room 3 is another ground floor apartment suitable for four with a queen bed and pull out sofa bed. The spacious apartment has a separate bedroom and living area and features a fully equipped kitchen, fireplace and a verandah overlooking the park.

Room Four

Located in the new extension, room 4 is a one bedroom apartment able to accommodate four people with a queen bed and a double pull out sofa in the lounge.  This apartment features a fully equipped kitchen and a private deck.

Room Five

Lastly, room five is a studio apartment in the new extension, accommodating two people in a queen bed. This studio comes with a kitchenette featuring a microwave, coffee machine, kettle, toaster and bar fridge as well as private north facing deck.
